3.7 Using the S-TEC 1500 Autopilot with the

EXP5000

If your aircraft is equipped with an S-TEC 1500 Autopilot, the

EXP5000 provides the following:

● Flight Director steering command bars

● Autopilot bugs, which display, but cannot be controlled from the

PFD

This section describes EXP5000-specific autopilot features. For

detailed information on using your autopilot, see your autopilot

documentation.

S-Tec 1500 Autopilot Annunciations

The PFD does not display S-TEC 1500 autopilot annunciations.

S-Tec 1500 Autopilot Bugs

On the PFD, the Vertical mode autopilot bugs, ALT (Altitude Bug) and

VS (Vertical Speed Bug), are advisory only. They can be controlled

only from the autopilot. If you change either of these bugs on the S-

Tec 1500, the bug value on the PFDs is automatically updated.

The Heading Bug works as described in "S-TEC 1500 Horizontal

Modes" on the next page.

S-TEC 1500 Vertical Modes

The vertical speed bug and the altitude hold bug display on the

EXP5000, however they cannot be set from the EXP5000. Control

the vertical modes directly on the S-Tec 1500 autopilot.

Dual-PFD Synchronization

See Section 5.2, "Synchronized and Non-synchronized Controls" on

page 69, to learn which PFD settings and Bugs are synchronized

between PFDs and which can have different values on the pilot and

copilot PFDs.
